How to Transfer DEWA Easily: Step-by-Step Guide for Tenants and Homeowners

What is DEWA & Why Do You Need to Transfer It?

Moving to a new home in Dubai? Whether you’re a tenant or a homeowner, transferring your DEWA (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) account is essential to keep your utilities running smoothly. This guide explains how to transfer your DEWA connection quickly and hassle-free.

Can You Transfer DEWA?

Yes! DEWA allows both tenants and owners to transfer their DEWA account to a new property without canceling the service. This is especially helpful if you’re moving and want to avoid setting up a new account from scratch.

You cannot have two active DEWA accounts for the same Emirates ID at different residential locations unless one is commercial or business-related.

DEWA Transfer Requirements

Before you start the process, make sure you have the following:

  • Valid Emirates ID
  • Ejari certificate for the new property
  • Previous DEWA account number
  • Tenancy contract or title deed
  • Copy of the landlord’s ID (if applicable)
